Professional Development
While working towards your Level 1 Teaching Certificate with TNTP Academy, it is recommended that you participate in additional professional development to help you grow as a teacher.
What Counts as Professional Development?
Examples of suggested professional development opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Activities or events offered through Teach Baton Rouge, Teach For America, or teachNOLA. This includes orientation, corps development nights, Learning Teams, Professional Saturdays, regional conferences, and one-on-one conversation with program directors beyond observations.
- National science/math/reading conferences
- Regional or state opportunities like LINC, LaSIP, and Delta Rural Systemic Initative
- General district/parish-based workshops through organizations like the LRCE, the InTECH program, intercept (St. John's Parish), the Center for Development and learning, and the Learning Academy.
- District/parish activities specific to the grade of content you teach, such as writing project seminars or Teachers Networking Together (TNT).
- School-based professional development workshops
